You Get To Create Your Future

by | Jul 7, 2019 | Imagining a better world

Your imagination is your future. If you have neglected to nourish your creative side, your future may less bodacious than you would like. Your creative visions are important. You don’t have to imagine the elaborate details of your future, you simply need to imagine a future. A story that you create, not one that is created by others.

If you allow your imagination to flourish, anything is possible for your future. You can say that your future is predetermined, or that you don’t have a choice, but you are only limiting yourself by believing that.

You can be the change you want to see in the world. If you believe that you have no voice or that you can’t make change in your world or the world at large, you are wasting your human potential. I have heard countless people proclaim “there’s nothing I can do” in regards to our political system. Imagine if Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela or Mother Teressa believed that ridiculous story for themselves. They certainly wouldn’t have created the magnificent things they did in their lifetimes. They all waged inner wars to have the courage to deliver their messages, messages that took decades to create and manifest.

I am not suggesting your future needs to be as grand as any of those humble warriors. What I am saying is: stop giving up your power, stop blaming others. You get to own any story you want. One perspective leaves us acting like victims and the other perspective forces us to take ownership over our lives. If the one that is renting space in your mind is feeling lackluster or even cruel and unmotivated, it is time to get creative with your thoughts and choose a different story.

I see myself as radically positive compared to a lot of people around me. I do not believe this makes me naïve. I believe it makes me strong. I used to have an unconscious and unkind record playing endlessly in my mind, directing my future of finances, love and friendships. It was nasty. Eventually I got bored of it because it was creating my future, a future that I was lamenting yet living.

I began to choose differently. My dreams are immense and bold. I don’t often share them with others, because I don’t want to have to navigate anyone’s self doubt in my own delicate ecosystem of creating.

Are you someone who doesn’t believe you have choice? Someone who isn’t taking full advantage of living in a time that has opportunities, connections and access to information like we have never experienced before?

Or are you someone who is choosing a future of your own creation? Are you mapping out a life that will allow you to say “I did everything I wanted to do”? Will you have lived a life in full colour? Will you have chosen who you wanted to be and how you made an impact on the world, no matter how small or big your dreams seem?

I am curious. Please share your story with me, either the one you are living or the one you are bold enough to create.

Love

Noelle
