Your Inner Activism Changes The World

Being a seeker in the world is part of being human. Think about it: when we are kids, we explore the world around us; we become fascinated with bugs and animals, with how things work in the world, with science and geography, with relationships, with our feelings, with our environments. It is captivating and spurns incredible curiosity. Curiosity is an integral part of childhood.

As we age, our curiosity changes and we find we have more interest in one area or another. It might be an attraction to nature that pulls you towards a career as a biologist, adventurer or environmental scientist. Your curiosity of the physical human body could draw you towards a world of medicine. Maybe your fascination with education and new ideas pulls you towards teaching. Your fixation with the stars and the universe gravitates you towards astrology, astronomy or astrophysics.

We are drawn towards the things that fascinate us.

Eventually, especially if you’re drawn to reading this, you become curious about your inner mechanics. Curious about why you do things, about your mind and why it has so much to say, or about how your mind has free will over your life.

Curiosity can lead us towards a life of spiritual practice. It can motivate us to find ways to slow our seemingly ‘out of control’ mind and learn to invoke a sense of peace within.

I believe that it is when our curiosity leads us inward we can have the most radical external change.

Think of something you are passionate about. Imagine now, the growth you have achieved due to your inner explorations. With that enhanced state of inner kindness, compassion and peace you have been developing and your skills you are capable of using your talents to do even more good in the world. To become an activist of change, even in the smallest ways within your community. You are able to let go of the things that trigger you and blind you with fear, and  because of that, you can see more clearly and you are not swayed in your mission.

You are able to make change in your world because you are not being depleted your unconscious self. Your self awareness is used as a positive model in your activism. You’re capable of being an advocate of change with a voice that is compelling because it isn’t jaded with fear, self-doubt and self-criticism. You can deliver your message to the world with more clarity. You are not wasting energy because you’ve been doing your inside work and that has promoted a sense of well being that can be carried into all areas of your life.

When we stop being blind to ourselves, to our own limitations or delusions, we can begin to see the ways we’ve been blind to world events that can profoundly affect our future be it politically, environmentally or socially. Because we are doing our own inner work, we stop tuning out the ‘bad news’ just because we don’t want to hear it. We begin to listen to the news with a sense of curiosity and a dedication to becoming agents of change. We find ways to offer up our skills and passions to the world in conscious ways – emphasising that when we become conscious ourselves, it is not just limited to ourselves – so that we are able to be of service in society. You will find your own path, whether it is feeding the less fortunate, finding ways to source food more locally or contributing to local governments to create economic solutions.

Our glass becomes half full instead of half empty when we begin to see possibility in our actions instead of believing we are not able to create the change we want to see in the world. Just as we work our inner revolution, we are able to take that radical work and put it into practice in the world.

We all want to have an impact on the world. For a lot of us, we reach a point when we ask ‘what is my purpose’. The self growth you have been going through, and hopefully continue to work all your life, will make the world a better place. Conscious people help create the world we want to live in.

We do the inner work so we can reckon with the parts of ourselves that want to keep us small and insignificant. When we are courageous on the inside it is much easier to start each day with the question, “What is the highest and best use of myself today?”

with love
Noelle
