Nothing is for certain, it’s all a mystery. This life is a mystery and we get to choose how we experience the symphony of emotions and feelings. We’ve all battled in our own darkness, struggled with our demons, and yet that doesn’t mean we see the world as dark and demented.
I’ve battled with my own sadness and lack of hope, but when I’m at my best I see the world as hopeful – and my comfort is draped in beliefs that there are people who also believe that. That there are others that want to see good in the world, even when they’ve experience immense betrayal.
That’s where ceremony and ritual come in. We have to make it a choice, daily, a ritual of how we want to see the world. We still experience suffering, and things that feel good, yet the things that feel like despair and sadness don’t hold us back. It provokes a deeper desire to commune with the wisdom that lives in love and faith – which is a part of ceremony.
In many cultures ceremony & ritual are a rich and intrinsic part of the human experience. Ritual is part of regular transitions, to celebrate times of shifts and taking time to acknowledge the hardships and all that is right in our world.
We are in constant flux, often looking for certainty when there is none.
My answer is: make it sacred. If there’s nothing that I can hold with certainty, if there’s nothing that I can control without controlling others, make many little moments sacred.
The way we make it sacred is by small prayers, ceremony and ritual. Ceremony has been used for centuries to invoke mighty powers, and to weather the winds of change. They can help us move from restriction to expansive greatness. The breath that travels through you is your ceremony, it’s life that moves through you, allows you to be here in the now, and gifts you with precious moments.
Make your moments, your life, your body, your mind, make it sacred.
When things feel impossible, when loving is hard, when joy feels unattainable. Make it sacred. Take the small moments and honour the true feelings, whether it’s feelings of unworthiness or contentment. Making sacred isn’t about irradicating the dark, it’s about embracing the messages that the dark carries.
Make it a ritual to soften and stop resisting. Ask that your walls be dropped and your heart be uncovered. Make the unknown sacred. Allow for not knowing to be a place of comfort.
Every year of transition, I make this time sacred. I take most of the month of January to practice clearing my mind, to watch what is arriving for me and make sacred my acts of manifesting.
Take this time, this important time of transition to move slow, to take in all the feelings, and to make sacred the small moments. If you’re inspired to do deeper work, there’s still time to join me for my 21 Day Conscious Manifestation Course. If you’re not inspired to do so, find ways to make sacred the small moments. Look for others who also have hope and faith that in small ways they can make a difference.
